KiCastingShaad Ali described Kill Dil as "a film about the tricks the heart plays on an unsuspecting victim of love. Ranveer is pukka for the male lead."[6] There were reports that Deepika Padukone would be playing the female lead.[5] However, it was later officially declared that Parineeti Chopra had signed to do that role. Govinda will be doing the role of the antagonist in this film.[3] Rani Mukerji will also appear.[7] Ali Zafar will be playing the role of a Kanpuriya boy.[8]
Filming
Early on in February 2014, many shots of the movie are taken in Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida and also at Grand Venice Greater Noida . Ranveer Singh and Govinda share the dance floor in the movie.[9] Through March the film was shot at various locations in Delhi.[10] Later in April 2014, a schedule of the film with leads Ranveer Singh and Parineeti Chopra was shot at Lavasa in Maharashtra.
